Default tuner cat help

Alright I bought tuner cat been messing with it and reading alotta stuff about it I still can't quite figure out shift point adjustments ... I went to table " normal shift up/down " and adjusted some stuff but its still revving to 6100/6200 to shift I know its too high cause It feels like it stops pulling up there as I don't have cams or anything ... does anyone know how to get it to shift at lower rpms ? Or what table to go to on the software ? Thanks

6,100 rpm on the tach or off the computer? Stock tachs can be a few hundred rpms off, reading higher than actual.

You'll need to adjust the "kickdown mode" tables.

okay sooo i changed the "kickdown mode" and put the tune on the car and turned the car on and bow it comes on and dies out almost immediately ALSO the fan comes on when i turn the key forward and stays on ONLY thing i changed was "kickdown mode" ... so when i went to put the stock alternate tune i saved before and now it says "Error PCM not detected" so does this mean i blew my PCM?

also a good idea to disable any antivirus software you have running also..

i thought the shift points were mph based in the normal mode up/down shift points table

You're tranny takes several hundred RPM to complete a shift. Especially in older transmissions. In the Performance or Kickdown tables, or both, drop the shift points at WOT like 500 RPM and see what it does. Upload the tune and try it out. If it needs more adjusting, do so accordingly. I took me awhile to undestand the whole tuning thing also. Good Luck.

And you may want to keep a spare PCM. They can fried very easily.

Always turn off any program you don't need running on the PC. And turn off anything on the car that may draw a charge from the battery. Also its a good idea to plug the laptop into a power outlet.

You dont need to buy a PCM, you need to fix the one you have, or have it fixed.

If you'd rather buy a spare and have that one fixed in the mean time, you can do that too, but dont think the PCM is junk.

At any rate, Ion at madtuner or Vince at Trifecta can take care of you.
