I'm back! - AI Cam time! - Rod bolts?

You cant run to far away from a 4th gen. they always manage to pull you back...
Your cam choice is nice, and so is your idea with the heads. Shifting at 6200 should be fine. Aslong as your bottom end is in good shape, and your not hitting redline in every gear every day lol

Lol not sure. My buddy is taking it while I'm at a bus party up in Ames at Iowa State. I think they'll be going around 8 maybe?

On LT1s?? The rod bolts are the most stressed fastener in any 4 stroke combustion engine.
Many failures of aftermarket bolts are due to installation error though(caps not seated properly, improper preload, not tq'd down enough, td'd down too much, etc) - you need to install them using a stretch gauge, not just a torque wrench.

Well, I'll be down there for the test and tune so probably around 2-7 I think. If I see it while we are there I will try to get a friend of mine to tape it.

What do you spin yours to? In that case if I up it to a solid roller with ported heads will you guarantee it won't break and bless my car for me?

Sounds like I need to come to the track saturday! I'll see if I cant get a couple of my buddies to go too...

redline was set at 6800 on mine for about 26k miles, stock shortblock, 410 rwhp. i banged the limiter probably every single day. possibly including a few (many ) accidental 3-2 downshifts. On one of those 3-2 shifts i recorded 7800 rpm.... The motor was running perfectly until the day I pulled it and sold it to someone else who was replacing their own blown motor.

Marc, I told you that you needed to keep the TA and have fun with it while in school.

Take the cap off and inspect the mating surfaces, and you can see what really happened.

Dave and I are leaving Des Moines hopefully around 7:30pm for the midnight drags. There will be Marc's TA, my SS, and my buddies 04 GTO driving up in a group. You guys should hang around for the midnight drags. Master Tomos you and your buddies should do the same thing.

Talk to any engine builder and see what they say about rod bolts. This isn't just an LT1 engine phenomenon...
