No it's not normal.....it's much better than normal oil pressure behavior for a LT1

My '95 has 80k miles, and according to the in-dash gauge I get around 20psi at warm idle (little over or under depending on temp) and a little under 40psi once driving (1.5k-3krpm)

Running the OEM ACDelco PF454 oil filter and Rotella T6 5w40 synthetic.

That's exactly what mine ran with the stock and built engine with 10w-40.

95 Lt1 71K mi stock oil pump and SpeedHut Revolution gauge shows 15-20 psi at idle @ 160-190* water temps.

If you have really low pressure using OEM spec weight oil, then you have an issue.

Pressure = resistance to flow. I use 10PSI per 1000rpm rule as a guide.

My 95 Lt1 camaro has 110k on the clock and according to the gauge runs a shade under 40 at cold idle and pops up to 50ish while driving. Hot idle has always been a little under 20 and I've had the car for almost four years now.

I run mobil 1 5w30 synthetic.

I've worried a lot about my oil pressure over the years but it's good to see that its normal for this car.

Also a 20+ year old oil sensor could be caked with crud inside of it which would throw off the reading, esp at idle. Im putting in a new sensor for $20 with my rebuild. See pic.

Mine sits at 5psi hot idle, has for the 15,000 miles I've had it. Motor has somewhere around 120,000 miles (Craigslist motor), sometimes it even falls to 0 in the gauge idling and the light comes on, but no ticks. Don't trust the gauge, get a mechanical on there if you are worried, and if it really had little or no pressure you would have lots of ticks at hot idle. Mines a replacement autozone sensor, that could be the issue as I've heard autozone sensors read bad, get delco or something else.

Default 93 Lt1

I have a 93 Lt1 out of a crashed vet in my 48 Chevy pick up. The truck was built in 2004. I don’t know the of the doner car But now in 2020 the truck has 115,000 miles. I just moved to Prescott az and I’ve noticed that when warm and I stop at a signal the oil pressure drops to 0. It never makes any lifter noise and when I take off it goes right up to about 35 or 40 lbs. any ideas?

You ever figure this out???

Mines today for the first time had the check gauge light come on do to low oil pressure. But no unusual noise and pressure goes back to normal when driving.

Funny question, but were you braking when the light came on?

No I was just idling in park, trying to get my trans fluid at the right level. When I noticed my oil pressure dropped to the 0 and check gauge light came on. Didn't effect the car tho. Today I didn't have any issues with low oil pressure or while driving.

Could just be the sending unit. They have been known to go bad. You can confirm by rigging up a mechanical gauge and go through the port just above the oil filter.
