My first pony car was an LT1 Formula and I'm considering going back due to budget restraints. I was wonder how cheaply can you get an LT1 Auto F-body to crack the 12 seconds and what mods it takes to do it.

Considering how fragile the 60e is, I wouldnt try it with a stocker if youre on a budget but theoretically a good converter, full bolt-ons, and nitrous will get you there. Cam and converter will get you there. Heads/cam will get you there. Nitrous/converter proly cheapest.

4k stall - Longtubes - no airbox

If that doesn't do it add some 4.10s are you're definitely there.

4-500 should afford you used nitrous kit and a pair of used nitto 555r's and a mid to high 12 sec pass with some seat time.

well being that the lt1 is getting up there in age, you might end up spending more money on maintnence than the actual mods it would take to run 12's.

full exhaust, CAI, 3000 stall, and some DRs

provided the track prep is good and the DA is decent that combo should do easy 12s

I get good air all the time so its a given at my track. Maybe for the west coasters, not so much

Just going my by ex's car... it had a catback, CAI, DRs, and free mods and went 13.2 at 103. Stock tune and 3.23 gears. Add LTs and a stall and its 12s easy

https://ls1tech.com/forums/lt1-lt4-m...-bolt-ons.html

Here is a list of mods that I used to run in the 12's with bolt ons. Keep in mind this is in a stick car with a crappy 1.93 60'. With an auto and a converter it would have been substantially better. Also, it was an iron headed caprice motor in my camaro. The DA was near perfect though.

I went 12.9x's all day long with mid-length headers, WS6 airbox, 3600 stall, 3.73s. and drag radials back in the day.

I'd say about 50 bucks for a good grinder would get you there.
