Here's the Borla Cat-Back for the LT-1's with dual cats for $800. It's on sale so you save $200.

Your setup is the best idea I've seen for true duals yet. It's clean, looks like a factory design and the 40 hours paid off for you. Hell try selling that design to someone to reproduce. maybe magnaflow would be interested.

For the OP - if you're going to get something ,like wrd1972, then 1200 is worth it. Hell the damn catbacks are up to 800 now. wow. I bought my Borla brand new for 500 from Summit in 2001!

I agree. Starting from scratch, a $1200 price tag for two cats, two mufflers, x-pipe, piping, tips, and labor sounds pretty damn accurate. A customer at the shop I work at had true duals done on his 57' without cats and it ran him $900.

over the axle would be alot harder, i didnt think of that. 1200 might be more reasonable.

wrd1972, i beleive there are 40 hours in that system, it honestly looks like something you would buy from a reputable exhaust company. very nicely done.

A lesser known manufacturer (who makes a very popular certain catback), actually contacted me and wanted to buy the design. They offered me a royalty with conditions. I declined the offer, made a counter proposal and never heard from them again. I have already turned down several offers to build them for a $1000 labor plus material simpy becuase I dont have the time or "area" to start the process. Now if I lose my job anytime soon, hmmm.....

When did Kooks start offering that true dual system? I've seen pics of a one off true dual system they installed on someone's car, and it looked VERY nice. If I was going to drop $1200 locally, I would seriously consider spending a bit more and getting the Kook's setup. Especially if what you've been quoted is not stainless steel. I wouldn't think the installation would be that difficult. That's also assuming it would work on the LT1's. I know the only difference between the GMMG catback for LT1's and LS1's is the hangers. I can't speak to how true duals might be impacted. I would think any differences in the undercarriages between an LT1 & LS1 would be minor.

Right now I have Hooker shorties on there and rather keep them on so I would need something to work with those...if I had my pacesetters it would be easier I could just use some kind of slip on piping.

No difference in undercarriage. Getting the TD's to interface with the many header configurations would be the biggest challenge and even that is not a real big deal. Once the pipes are hooked to the headers, the rest would just bolt right up.

Wonder why that did not do a 2.5" system as well? I would think that a dual 3" system for the NA guys might actually be counterproductive. Plus a 2.5" would be less expensive.

I paid $500 for crossover, pipes, and labor for over the axle.

Mandrel bent, aluminized steel. (still not rusty after 3 years, who cares anyway).

I provided mufflers and tips. No cats.

A lot of the LSx guys make big power unlike us LTx guys, and if you are going to spend the $$ on the jigs why not make it something that people won't out grow.

hi guys. my name is kurtis and i work for MBS performance exhaust where we have 3 in house mandrel benders and a digitizing program. for 1200 you get a system that looks like this

notice how that is all one piece. not cut and welded together as the kooks bolt on system is.

that is why our price is what it is.

thanks,
Kurtis

Not a bad design at all, but how well can it interface with long tube headers?

I would not pay that, I was quoted $350 with tips with me providing the mufflers only.
