Ok my car will overheat in 5-10 mins just idling. I've had the radiator flushed, and pressure tested. Has new t-stat. Hoses r good. New cap. And I have also bled the system. How do I tell if my waterpump is working? Also my hoses feel like they are about to burst. So I don't think the water pump is turning.

It is very common to have to bleed the system several times to remove the air pockets. I have even heard of people go to the extent of putting the front of the car up on ramps to aid the process.

just ran threw the same problem there is a way for the water pump to go out with out the weep hole leak. the propeller shafts get stuck or stop turning, a way to test is to take off the neck off the water pump and have someone bump the engine over if the water does not cycle you have a WP failer....leading to a bad water pump

It's also possible the T-stat that was installed was not a specific LT1 thermo as they are different and commonly are confused with the standard sbc thermo. Just food for thought....

1. pull the fuse and jump them with a wire if they turn on then its not your fan
2. if your water pump is not cycling your ECT sensor will not read right because the only coolant it is reading is the coolant in the water pump at the time which could have the reading off by 60 degrees
3. another way to test fans are to take off the ECT sensor plug and start the car fans should be on because the PCM is reading no info from the sensor
it really easy i just gave you a couple of ways to do it and they are easy.
I had a tread about this just 1 day ago go check it out its under " car left me on the road for the first time"

Ok fans are workin pulled the ect and they turned on. I think the waterpump isn't turning which makes the ect misread. I guess all fingers are pointing towards the water pump.
