Default Double valve springs overkill?

I'm looking for a set of springs to replace my CM612s and it seems like alot of the ones that come up for sale are double springs. Would this put an unnecessary amount of wear on my cam/lifters/rockers/etc? My cam is around .550 lift before the 1.6rrs and I spin to 6500.

Also, to run springs ment for an LS1 in an LT1 do you just need different locks and retainers?

It won't put an excessive amount of wear on your setup if you buy the correct weight of spring. There are several options available. You can go with the security of a double spring and lose the minor advantages of the beehive. Or you can go with beehives and risk destruction if one of them breaks. It's all about choices.

By correct spring weight do you mean seat pressure? If so what kind of numbers should I be looking for?

There is more to spring choice than lift.
Can you tell us what cam you have???
If it is a custom don't post the specs but then maybe call the person who spec'd it and see what they recommend.

I PM'd Lloyd awhile back. I guess he dosent visit the site much because it took him quite awhile to get back to me but he recommended these "if i want something cheap"

I'm not in a big hurry to buy new springs since the car is in storage so I'm just looking for a good deal on some springs that arnt just a cheap replacement.

those are the same springs that were recommended for my set-up as well. It is reasonably priced and i have not had any issues with these springs. They are the same springs that Crane used.
