what did you break off? If its a tap or an ez out it is too hard to drill into. The only option is to shatter it with a sharp, hardened punch and a swift blow with a hammer.

Are the heads still on the car?

And if you broke a screw extractor you're doing something wrong...

I have seen the cheap ones snap, but it still takes some doing.

you will have to try to shatter it. I have been through this before. I broke a tap off in my head before. Shatering it will be the only way because the hardness of the steel. You dont need to necessarily hit it hard, just a quick hit with a sharp punch.

Here is a pic of my dilemma, fixed it by shattering the tap. Its really a common thing people do to remove a tap. (I tried a tap remover btw)

YES!

A broken screw extractor can indeed be drilled out, just not with an "all purpose" (i.e. - wood, plastic, and metal) drill bit.

You must use a new, sharp, metal-specific (i.e. - 150 degree angle tip) drill bit.

(Ask me how I know)

Good luck!

: )

If your good with a welder ..put a nut on the end of the extractor and plug weld it then use a socket to turn it out.....

The head? Yes.
The bit? No.

You may need to sharpen that (now one hour old) bit as well.

i figured that heating the broken ez out would weaken it and make it easier to drill out
