Default Catt Reccs?

Guys,

I'm redoing my exhaust in a month or so and switching out my JBA mids with a set of RKSport mids due to the larger primaries. I'm having a custom Y fabbed up by a local guy and need some advise on the Catt to use. I know some of you are wondering why go with a catt since I can't pass emissions anyway, but I personally wanna keep the obnoxious smell down and keep the exhaust tone a little less drony. I spoke with random tech as I was thinking about picking up one of their universal converters and they recc that I go with the 100-cell due to my cam having such a large overlap the regular cat would have a short life. My cam is running on a 230-236 108lsa to give you an idea. Any one have any experience with the 100-cell design and if they work as well on cutting down the fumes as a regular design? Also, any advise on other cats you would suggest would be nice.

A good tune should correct any smell.

I'm running a pair of the 100 cell/in. Randoms (3" in/out, 4" body). Smell totally gone, tiny bit quieter on TDs, zero power loss. Downside is most places want $200.00- $220.00 apiece for them.

Exactly what I wanted to hear. I'm thinking of keeping the stock cat setup and going with just one (due to the existing heat sheilding there and my low stance), do you think this will be an issue?

Gutted my cat 2 years ago when I did my build. My wife couldn't stand the gasoline smell and it was rhaspy. I went with a Magnaflow Hi-Flow cat this summer. It was about $100. Took care of both problems.

Same here and have the same cat on my current setup with the JBA's. The cat has taken a beating over the years and I was thinking of going new with Random Tech as I heard they flow better and also cats can heat up even more when you have heavy overlap due to the rich exhaust (according to Random tech) and this actually severly shortens the life of the cat.

I'd circle back with RT and ask them if the flow through one is enough. IIRC, my 144-30000s flow about 730cfm each. Their 7000 series 3" in/out (200 cell/in.?) flows 617cfm.

I ran a dual catted y-pipe with Pacesetter LT's and had sportlines. The lowest point was the driver side collector. If your exhaust guy can't tuck them up then you should look elsewhere. That was with full size 3" magnaflow cats.
