I did this last weekend to my 97 bird and it was a cinch! Took maybe any hour, but that was just because a couple of the rivets were being a pain. It did tighten up the steering quite a bit also!

 

I am using the ls1 shaft on my lt1 rack. It was easy no more work than installing a rag joint eliminator. All that you need to do is separate the ls1 shaft; takes a little cutting with a small cut off tool, then line it up with the lt1 shaft and press the ls1 shaft back together.
