Default Red Lock-tite on ARP rocker studs?

When I put new guide plates on I noticed that the 7/16 rocker studs had red lock-tite on it with thread sealer. So I cleaned the threads off, put fresh thread sealant, and torqued them down to 70.

Should I have put fresh red lock-tite on it as well?

Couldnt find the torque specs on ARP's website so I did a search and found people torque theirs to 70.

That's not what I want to hear. I only did one head. Put the guide plates on then put ARP ultra thread lube too. Hope I didn't **** anything up.

Although it really wouldn't surprise me at the rate this build is going...

That new ARP lube is seriously slick stuff. I sincerely hope you did not hurt the thread inserts.

As said above heads are up around 70ft.lbs, rocker studs are more like 35ft.lbs.

Everything looks good. Torqued them to 35. Gonna have to redo some of them since I don't like the way the guide plates are centered.

Should use thread sealant to seal them in the heads especially if they are ported. They create a vacuum leak if they are not sealed completely off.

I noticed that so I put the sealant on pretty good.

Do not use loc-tite on studs. Use sealant and torque them to factory spec.

As stated stock torque is 50. Most aftermarket heads say 55-60 and the ARP website says 70 for a 7/16 stud. As Rob94hawk says, call ARP and see exactly what they say and pass on this usefull tid bit to the fellow board members.

When I installed my ARP's, guide plates and Scorpion's I settled at 65 ft. lbs. That's coming up to almost 3 years now.

So you dip the studs in 30w oil before installing them?
