Default Trans Am Headlight Mod

Does anyone what needs to be done to make the trans am/firebird headlights not come up as far? I have seen some LT1 cars and many LS1 cars have modded headlights that dont pop up all the way and look obnixous.

Thanks

Are you refering to the "LAZY EYE" mod? if so then you would have to take a look at some import forums since everyone here seems to hate the idea. i think it would look good since i hate how high they open up myself but ehhh. i know you would have to build a custom headlight assembly that was alot smaller (projectors?) so you would actually have lights when turned on.

you will have to make a "stop" on the bracket. just a tab that the arm runs into where you need it

Did it on one of my 240sx's back in the day. Just had to snip a wire from the headlight control button. Basically you just tap the button whenever you want them to stop while they are going up (gotta be quick). In hindsight, it was a terrible look. I would never do it again, especially on an F-body!

I always did this on 240s and 180s do to the fact they used it for their intake system. But like others have said I don't think it will look correctly on and f-body. But if you are set on this just build a stop tab off the assembly bracket to stop it. The motors will stop turning when there is applied pressure. But also remember this, the arm on the motor aids in holding the headlights up. It does this when then arm is at its straight point since that is how it is designed. With it not being at this point you will be putting more stress on the factory plastic gears inside the motor which could potentially cause failure. Just food for thought.

hmm never heard of this...... I kinda like the idea of using small projector lights and the lights not raising up as high....then again I would want to see it before I did anything on mine...

Lazy eye is what I am referring too. I just couldnt remember what it was called.

I cant stand pop up headlights in general so I just drive with just my fogs on whenever possible (ricer, I know )

The stock headlight even with the stock bulbs have about 2-3" of black plastic below them as part of the mount. I just want to lower it from coming up about 2-3" to cover the plastic and make the headlight itslef sit flush with the bumper so they are still functional

Get a Camaro if you don't like the pop-up lights.. Idk. It just sounds like a terrible idea. BUT!!!! it is your car, who am I to judge? As long as you're happy, go for it man.
