4L60E - Trans Preform Button
Hey guys, just had a quick question about this. My car has the button, but when i press it nothing happens, no lights come on. The car has a rebuilt transmission, and a tci3500 stall converter. Im not sure what components were used in the rebuild.
Am i loosing anything with this button not working? Will anything improve if i make it work? Are there any easy diagnostics to find out why its not working?
Car is torn apart right now, but i figured id just ask.
I searched for "transmission preform" got nothing. If its been asked befor, my bad.
thanks guys
***** thought i was in the transmission section, move it if you want to mods*

If you searched for "transmission preform" and didn't get anything, that's because you spelled "perform" wrong.
The button raises factory shift points and firms them up as well, only an option on the T/As. Some will quote the popular Fbody FAQ and say that Z's are "always in performance mode," but this has never been proven or dis-proven. Off the top of my head, the button contacts a small circuit board with an LED which goes to the PCM. Pull off the console and see if the button is actually making contact with the switch on the circuit board.

I asked about this under the transmissions section a few months back. Got some good info there. Ram pretty much filled you in on it though. And when you get it tuned, it really shouldn't matter.
