Out of curiosity what car is will this motor be for?

Its fair to say the LS is a better platform - its more advanced, its more current; I'll agree is easier to make power on the LS engines (they love bolts ons plus there's way more potential for big cubes). The cylinder head design is far superior, the ignition systems are better and more reliable, and is not not the case that the LS1 PCM is a better tuning base? What else - its a 6-bolt, steel sleeved aluminum block - lighter, better heat disapation, etc, etc.

Having said this, what do you want? Do you care what engine is going into this car? (what engine the car originally came with?).

Well you already have everything for a LT build so it would be way cheaper. You trying to set records make 500+HP NA? If not the good ol LT will do just fine and take the smile right off some LS owners after a good whoopin. Whats your goal?

More power? LS1
Better stoplight acceleration? LT1
All out build? LS1
cheaper? LT1 (at this point)
dyno queen? LS1
care about traps? LS1

LS1 is miles ahead in performance and ease of tuning and such. But the fact that you are already in an Lt1 makes it much cheaper to stick with it.

like i said before mike 500+NA LT horsepower is do-able u just gotta be willing to go full-monty on it lol...........if u got LT stuff already I'd say build the LT.....i get a kick out of it everytime i spank an LS with mine and they spend 30 minutes searching for nitrous on it in the parking lot when we get off the highway lol

were having no problem hitting 400+hp with a mild top end package from AI or LE on a stock short block stock castings heads an bolt ons. So 500hp NA really dont seem that hard to obtain really.

x2 on what car we're talking about and what you want to do with it...

Is nobody interested in an LS1 swap vs. LT1 buildup cost analysis? Forget the LSx vs. LTx argument for a minute... If it came with an LSx, build it up. If you have a shitload of money to do the swap from a GenI or GenII SBC, go ahead.

I'd rather spend 3 grand on an existing LT1 than buy a stock LS1 for 3 grand...
