Have to remove heads, so can I reuse new head gaskets after I just torqued them down
Long story short, I just torqued my new heads and new felpro 1074 gaskets down yesterday with arp studs, but now I need to pull the heads back off to check something. Am I going to be able to reuse these head gaskets and arp studs?

They haven't gone through any heat cycles yet. I would reuse them. How do you think shops check ptv clearance? They use the exact parts going into a build and torque the heads down to measure the clearance. Then they unbolt them and check.

Seeing the cast from jershey shore i doubt ther can even refill the windshield cleaner reservior.
On the head gastek depends on the condition when your remove the head. hope it does not break

On a paper gasket like a 1074 it will be fine.
On something like a Mr Gasket 5716, Victor Reinz, stock replacement Felpro, etc (graphite sheet) once you bolt it on the material from both sides of the steel shim will come off. One side sticks to the head and the other to the block.
Same deal with MLS gaskets, the sealing adhesive will stick to the block and heads.

I always used old used gaskets (of the targeted compressed thickness) for checking ptv clearance. I never knew anyone used new ones. I'm not trying to say they don't/shouldn't....just didn't know.
