call Advanced Induction.....I've been running their cams for a few years now and have had absolutly unbelievable results........they are great to deal with and they WILL MAKE POWER.....hands down!!! as for a lopey idle check this out, its idling at 1300 ......cams a bit bigger than what you'll be look at prob thou lol...and even with a decent sized cam that pulls to 8000 the car still drives around great.....

GM 847 cam: 334/242 @ .050, .610/.632 lift (approx w/ 1.7's), 112 LSA.

You really think running this cam with LE3 heads & 1.7's would just easily make 400 RWHP? There's a dude named Jared down south who's making 427RWHP with LE2 heads and the same XFI280 cam that I'm running.

The XFI280 cam is a 230/236 @ .050, .576/.570 lift (w/1.6's) and a 113 LSA - quite smaller than the GM 847. Based on my chats with Lloyd in the past my understanding is that higher the LSA the less usable duration you get (or something to that effect). Basically means a 225/230ish cam on a 112 would in reality be similar in size/power to a 230/236 cam on a 113. The GM 847 cam has more duration AND its on a 112, and would have considerably more lift with a 1.7. I'd imagine the setup you suggested easily making 425+RWHP maybe even closer to 450 RWHP...

LE spec'd my cam for good low-end and driveability. Having to pass emissions is also something i had to take into consideration aswell. LE or AI can set you up with whatever your needs are then trying to match something with an off the shelf cam. Worth the extra money to have it done right.

You can get a custom grind with low duration but with a tight LSA, say a 224 with a 108 LSA, this is not a big cam, will make some low end power and have that muscle car sound you are looking for..Heck the ole LT4 Hot cam I once ran had a lope to it..

I'm running an AI 226/234 cam and it gives really good driveability and has great power. I think that LE's 226/234 is about the same, but I think a different LSA.

230s duration, high lift, low lsa cam here. Perfect drivability.

As long as it idles and brakes then it has perfect drivability IMO. The rest of drivability is in the rest of the car. Any problems you have beyond those are from you not setting the car up for drivability.
