I believe that you are saying that the codes have nothing to do with the air pump being gone., soo...
I just need to replace the offending o2 sensor(s) and I'll be good to go.
Wait... wuuuut?!?!?! An OBD II scanner on an OBD I car?

Oh if a SES light is all that will happen, sounds great. Light is already on.

I didn't say it was an OBD I. Yes I get the SES light. Like I said, it has been quite awhile so I don't remember the exact code(s). I might just take it to AA tomorrow for fun, to get the code #'s. If a new O2 sensor will put the car back into closed loop then I'll try it.

You're deleting a critical emission component, so of course you'll set an SES light. You need to have it programmed out of the PCM.

It won't hurt anything performance-wise, but your cooling fans will be on all the time due to the SES.

Yeah i noticed that when i unhooked it. Thats ok i can live with that. SO will it be ok to do the egr the same way? Delete it now and have it programmed out later?

Yes and no.

With the SES light on, you won't be able to tell if any other problems arise other than the EVAP and EGR. That's completely up to you, but I personally wouldn't want my SES light staring me in the face for no reason, especially if a code 16 popped up.

Call me stupid lol but whats a code 16? And i guess i could leave the purge solenoid and the egr untill i swap in the 383. Was just trying to get some of this small stuff done before i do that. I still drive this car but only about 4 miles to work a couple times a week.

I only mentioned the code 16 as a worst-case scenario. It's for the loss of the low resolution pulse for the optispark, so if you set any other codes you'd have no idea because the light is on for the EGR and EVAP. Get it?

My suggestion is just leave both of them until you have the tune. Deleting them without a tune has no immediate benefit at this juncture.

Yeah i got ya. I was just wondering what a code 16 was, knew it musta been bad the way you said it lol. Hope i never see it. Believe it or not this cars got 112000 on it the motor was rebuilt 9000 ago and still no problems with the opti. Ill just wait. I appreciate all the info THANKS.
