Deleting power steering
I'm getting so fed up with all the problems with this alt relocation kit that I'm thinking about just deleting the damn power steering and just running the crank and alt.
Do you gain anything from deleting power steering besides a little weight reduction? Any significant HP gain? How bad is it driving with big tires and no power steering? I'll have 255/40/17 up front on a 9.5" rim, so not the biggest but still.
Is it as simple as just deleting the pump, or do I have to worry about converting the rack and other stuff?

I have no p/s for 3 years now and I love it. I put on atleast 2k miles a year and drive it everywhere in the summer. Im a bigger guy and stronger than most, but even for me it does get rough when try to parallel park or pull into the garage. I also have a madman manual rack and I HAD 315s up front.....that **** wont happen again. The bigger the tire, the harder to turn the wheel. With my skinnies, which I have had for about 2 years now, is much easier to move the wheel.

Yeah I'm used to driving without power steering, but that's on my little POS Escort winter beater. That things got 175/70/13 tires on it lol.
I don't mind driving w/o power steering, but I'm worried about doing powerslides and little drifts and not being able to crank the wheel.

Yeah but I just bought these super nice polished valve covers... I don't want to beat em up lol. And I love how clean the engine looks without the alt sitting right there. I'm going to go buy a tiny belt and bypass PS so I can try it out. I'll report back on how I like it.

Alright so I got a 36" belt and went out for a drive with just the crank/alt running. HOLY HELL. I wasn't expecting it to be anywhere near that hard to turn the wheel man, even when you are cruising at 40 you have to give it some muscle just to change lanes lol.
Sadly I'm going to have to keep PS.....
