Before doing any mods make sure the car is running in tip top shape. I know it will cost a little more and delay mods but you gotta do it right if you want this thing to be reliable.

I'm from St. Louis too. What area do you live in?

i would get all quality used parts. The mods mentioned above could be had for 1500 if you got them all used. You should also be able to go 12.80 @ 105ish with those mods.

Im running 106 with CAI LTs True duals and gears on street tires but it matters where you live as well

weve been having all kinds of rain were im living, so my car kinda looks like a pewter lt1 lol

To OP, you could also try a cutout if you dont want to spend a lot of money in a catback just yet.

Haha, I feel ya! My car rarely sees rain but when it does it's a bitch especially with Nitto's 2nd gear starts are almost a must lol.

How come everyone focuses more on intake/exhaust and neglect suspension/brakes? The more I read, the more I found out that the stock exhaust really isn't that restrictive, even with headers, and yet the DeCarbon shocks are about as bad as it gets, and the stock LT1 brakes could really benefit by being upgraded to LS1 status. Isn't the stock exhaust pretty efficient up to around 400 hp, same for the TB? It's good to see more people focusing on gears though in this thread.

Cheap guy

Please tell me where you found that info on the Exhaust and Intake not being restrictive. On the LT1 for the F-bodys hold them back so much because thats BEYOND false thats just total internet bs

Here is Real life before and after numbers

Put it this way with a Tune CAI and headers and full exhaust went from 14.0-14.2 to 13.3-13.5s. All stock suspension before and after mods.

edit: I remember I had the tune before the Headers and CAI as well and was told the MAF picks up the change in the flow.

Best slip before headers CAI and Tune.

60.......2.143
330......6.008
1/8......9.117
mph.....79.40
1000.....11.791
1/4.......14.052
mph......99.85

After Tune LT and CAI

60'....2.079
330....5.708
1/8...8.646
mph....83.58
1000....11.177
1/4....13.307
mph.....105.93

so seems quite on the restrictive side to me

I should have been more clear and stated that the stock catback isn't too restrict. According to what I've been told and read, the stock intermediate and overaxle pipe is 2.75". Most catbacks go 3", then go right back into a one inlet muffler. The stock manifold, on the other hand, apparently has some issues. I wonder if your results would change much if you went with headers with the stock Y, intermediate and just a h-flow muffler.

And as far as whether I want to go with shocks and springs, rather than long tubes, intake and gears; I go with tune up, CAI, muffler, shocks, and brakes in that order. Again, I'd skip the TB unless I'd get a cam, and gears aren't an issue with me since I only buy manual cars, but If I had an auto, gears would be before LT.
