Default dumb question probably... about egr

I'm installing 'race' headers on my 95...can I leave the EGR valve and pipe in place, and simply block off the end of the pipe (where it would have hooked up to the oe exhaust manifold)?

I do plan on getting a tune to cut out the egr in the computer... but i'd rather leave the parts installed on the intake. For nothing else than it'll save me time and knuckle skin... since I know that will be a PITA... also makes it easier to go back to stock if the need ever arises.

Thanks

Yeah, as long as you block off everything properly there shouldnt be any problems.

its not that hard to work back there, just lay on your motor and reach in. If you do leave the pipe dangling though, it might bang around back there and make some noise.

thanks.
yeah, i'll have to fab up a plate for the pipe on the exhaust side... and have to wire tie it up out of the way.

Should I bother unhooking/plugging the vacuum line going to the valve as well?

If you leave the EGR in place then just leave the vacuum line and you'll be fine. If you remove the EGR solenoid then make sure to pull the vac line from the intake mani and plug the port with a vac cap.

Just go on ebay and pick a set of all three (egr solenoid, pipe - mani side, and pipe header side) for very cheap and then you can get rid of all that stuff in your bay.

WHY? Removing all EGR stuff, caping vac port and bolting up my EGR block off plates literally took me 10 mins. Wish the rest of my header swap was that easy.

For me EGR removal and blockoff plate install was the easiest - hands down!! 4 bolts - 5 including pipe connection on header and ur done. I'll agree that one of the bolts on the EGR solenoid is a bit of a pain to get to, but not hard at all.

If you have even an inkling of experience working with hand tools in general, it's a 20 minute job.

www.shbox.com has all the diagrams too. Familiarizing yourself with the location of all of the components before you get started is a good idea.
