Gotta wait and see how much it is going to cost at the mechanic first...

Hes gonna do a compression test - $90/1hr

Then a Leak down test, if needed- $9/1hr

Plus the tow- $90-$120

Run a compression test on that cylinder. That'll give you your answer.

Don't pay him to do that. Rent a tester from autozone for free and do it yourself.

Gotta get it done, its my DD. Dont have time for it to sit.

Do you think it could be the ring?

Personally i dont. A "ring" wont cause a misfire like that. sounds like your mechanic is slow at work and needs some cash. This coming from a ex-mechanic

Did a compression test on Cylinder 5, 0compression, needle didnt even move a little bit on the gauge.

Did a compression test on Cylinder 1, 0compression, needle didnt even move a little bit on the gauge.

....Tested the gauge with air pump in the shop, needle moved.

Did a compression check on passenger side (dont remember which cylinder), It went to 140ish...

Took off rockers on Cylinder 1 and 5, did a compression check again, and cylinder 1 red 125 on the gauge, and cylinder 5 read 60...

SOOOOOOOOO...... IDK what it is?

Could the rockers have been adjusted wrong? (My buddies/another mechanic thinks so)

Is it a ring?

Warped head?

If you're getting no compression whatsoever, it's either a broken/bent valve, hanging valve, hole in a piston, or the valve spring itself.

You said the valves were adjusted using the spin method, then backed OFF a half turn, is that right?

yeah. I didnt set them personally, so i cant say if he did it right, but thats the method he used....

Could it be the rockers tho?

Doubtful. I would suspect valve springs before anything.

I see you re-set the valve lash on #5 and #1. Springs look good? Valves moving up and down just fine?

My actual mechanic did it (Not a friend), and he didnt mention anything being wrong with the springs... He kept mentions the head being warped.

If you're confident in your mechanical abilities, take off the valve cover and visually inspect the springs/valve stems on #1 and #5.

I say get the haynes book for lt1s and adjust the rockers yourself, of course following the book step by step, its really easy if you are not running a cam bigger than stock

I have the haynes repair manual.

Do you think the rockers could be the problem?
