Default LT1 intake manifold question

Is there any differance between a 1994 intake and a 1996? Headed back to the junkyard to pick up a few things in a few minutes and wanted to know if the intakes were the same, if so ill pick up the 1994 intake.

Nope, they are the same. The only differences lie in the 93 intakes which do not have the front fuel crossover provision.

I thought some were port matched to the heads?

Like some have near perfect rectangles, others taper inwards towards the top?

Just like heads, the manifolds can have small differences in the ports between years. I also remember reading about some flowing slightly better and more optimally shaped ports then others.

Nothing I would bother with or worry about though, they are in in essence the same - except for the 93's as Ramair mentioned .

Yes, they did have different casting numbers, but the port differences are so small it doesn't really matter.

I've got a low milage intake off my old 94 z28 I'd be willing to part with and sell you at a good price.

So how about this then, I got the intake and now im looking at all the crud built up inside. Is there a way to treat the intake to clean all the carbon/crud build up inside of it?

One more question, is there a shop that is known for porting LT1 intakes? Id like to get this ported and powdercoated so when i pull my stock intake to fix the oil leak i can replace it with this one.

There isn't much benefit in porting the stock intake, unless you're putting on a 58mm throttle body, and in that case you can port the manifold yourself with a Dremel.

The rectangular ones are actually bigger than the head port the tapered ones actually match better and are preferred by "as cast" racers.

Ok cool, i didn't know. So the only porting other then the TB bores would be if one was to port match there heads then right?
