adjusting pinion angle
i checked a car that was setup by the "everyone" angle... basically the car was parked on level ground and angle finder was stuck to the bottom of the torque arm mount and set for -3 degrees. for the last 4-5 years the car vibrated, broke a pinion support, and never launched right.
i checked it and got somewhere around -14 or -17 degrees, i cant remember now.
one of the biggest names in the 4th gen chassis world made a post several years ago telling people to use the "level ground" method. i couldnt believe it. that guy builds chassis and tunes 7 second cars now. lol...

im confused. so what is the correct way to check it then? by crank? what is the method of doing it that way? i orginally was trying to fix a lil thump i hear when letting off heavy throttle or at times when pushing in clutch. that magnetic angle finder is a POS aswell. i need to look into getting the digital one somebody was talkin about earlier.

Very well, it falls. And the little lines were you see on what degree there on are so small it's hard to count what degree I'm on.

Follow the video STEP BY STEP and you'll be fine. This is the correct way to set your pinion angle. The two places to use are your DriveShaft and your Base Plate for the TQ arm on the diff. Even if your car is on stands and not level the math will get you where you need to be as it will always come out to -1.5 to -2 when you're right.
