With a 503 you wont take a huge hit in mpg, its not a radical cam. Even with mine im still getting 20+ freeway and high teens city

Like everyone is saying above the hotcam is a great dd cam will not make big hp numbers but will make a noticable gain over stock. I have it in my dads 95 t/a auto with 3.42s and even on the hwy it still manages 26+mpg. If your looking for a used cheap cam then look at the cc503 it will make more power then the hotcam and i still think it would be easy 20+mpg on hwy. Its all up to your budget in the end and what you have to put into it.

Ok quick question and this might sound dumb but I've never heard it before. What does ICL mean? And yes due to budget reasons the heads will remain untouched. I am liking all of these positive comments about it. He said he will sell me the whole kit (cam, 1.6RR's, poly locks, springs, and retainers) for $350. It is used but I know the guy and I know he wont sell me junk. I'm looking to get a decent performance increase, and hopefully get 350 at the wheels, but without porting the heads im not sure if thats possible. However because I'm on a budget I believe im going to buy it off him because I'll save about $400 if I go that route. Also does anyone know where i can get a replacement timing chain kit? Jegs and summit have a cloyes for 90 but i think its for carbed 350's running electric WP's.

Intake Center Line - ICL

I thought i saw AI selling LT1 timing sets for pretty cheap.

And 350whp with a hotcam will be difficult. Not impossible.

He means to degree the cam when installing. Not easily done on an LT1. What this does is change the peak power slightly. Retarding it raises peak power where advancing it lowers it. Helps for fine tuning.

Most will just throw the cam in dot-to-dot and be fine. I personally wouldn't bother degreeing a cam-only car of this nature. An all out one, yes but 99% of these LT1 cams were spec'd to go in as is and will not be worth the hassle of degreeing in most situations.

How much more peak HP would I have gained with the hotcam set at 106-107 as mentioned above because I just dropped mine in dot to dot. More than 10 HP?
Does advancing it make the power more even over the dyno graph whereas retarding makes it dip alot more but have a higher peak HP at a certain rpm? can someone elaborate? Thanks.

I think I'm going to go this route, it makes the most sense, when I do my opti I'm going to take off the intake as well to fix the rear leak, so it won't be too much more work to do a cam swap. I want to go FI latter on down the road, but 330+rwhp would keep me satisfyed for quite a while.
Would it be worth going to 1.7 rr's seeing how I have to change out the valve springs anyway?

I personally would 100% with that cam. Just make sure you check the geometry of the valvetrain.

I ran a 12.93 at 106 and 2.0 60ft, with pacesetter mids, 12" 2800 stall, DR's and LT4 Hot Cam. UNTUNED. And yes get some 1.7rr-3/8 from Scorpion scp-1025. It will super size the cam for you...

I was told that 92-94 LT1's had hardened pushrods. 95-97 LT1's DID NOT have hardened pushrods. If you use NSA roller rockers you need hard pushrods and guide-plates. If you use SA roller rockers you do not need hard pushrods or guide-plates.

Did you ever run the car with your current mods, minus the heads?

You'd probably lose 5 to 10 peak hp compared to the "drop-in" 109 ICL, but your new peak would come in at a lower rpm and your average hp would be greater across the useful rev range in a street or drag car.

Didn't you run 12.2 or something with your budget 355, untouched heads, hotcam 3.73, 3600 stall Z too?
