Post LT1 Setup help...

I recently paid off my stock (minus short throw) 1997 Z28 LT1 M6 and am looking to add a few upgrades asap! I have around 2k saved and was looking to get as much out of it as possible!

Build has to include a performance clutch, other than that I am open for ideas...

I'd say cold air intake, headers, off road y pipe, cat back of your choice and a mail order tune.

Forgot to mention I do have a K&N CAI as well. Headers...long or short? Brand really matter? Mail order tune...?

I would go longtube headers, just don't get flowmaster mufflers. And mail order tune I would go with pcmforless. Heard a lot of good things from them.

Longtubes are the best. I personally like my pacesetters for the price and pcmforless is good but so is madtuner are i think there a little bit cheaper.

Thanks for the recommendations. I will go with long tubes for headers. I will try to find a exhaust kit. Maybe corsa or magnaflow kit. What about a good clutch. The car needs one anyway and I hate the stock pos clutch. How are the Spec stage 2's?

I've heard the Spec stage 3 is an awesome replacement clutch, and it can support a lot of horsepower if you ever decide to work the engine in the future.

As for bolt ons, I would say Pacesetter longtubes (around $500), Pacesetter 3" offroad y-pipe ($130). And a catback of your choice. Do some youtube sound clip research. Theres videos of almost every brand catback on there.

While the car is down for installation, send the PCM to get tuned. You'll get the most performance out of the header installation and overall gain a nice gain in performance, get it tuned for a 160* Thermostat (Hypertech has them for ($20). He will also get rid of the skipshift (1-4 gear change). My PCM was tuned by Solomon at www.lt1pcmtuning.com, he did an awesome job and I noticed a difference right away with his tune, it will be about $120 plus shipping to get the PCM there. Different guys like different tuners, do some homework and see which you think you'll like.

Hope this helps man
