When folks blindly praise something challenge them for a MEASURED result. Look at signatures too, they can tell you something..

Why so much hate for the lt4's? What's wrong with a stock head that's almost the same size port-wise to your AI heads with better valves? Or is it more the fact that they aren't AI heads?

Look around for actual results. The LT4 lovers are blind bench racers not actually looking at results applicable to this poster's goals.
Port size is not the only thing, shape and a few other key characteristics are critical and the LT4s are NOT right as cast.

But then again lt1 heads aren't perfect as cast either, I would only consider them for my car if I found them cheaper than a good set of LE or AI heads, I don't have a perferance, I haven't had eithers product, so I can't say anything good or bad about either. Both have proven results, so I would take either company's heads.

I agree about the bench racers, but sure I could put a gm847 cam in my car for braging rights, it would sound cool, but it is not the most effecient setup with stock heads. That's why a hotcam has been apealing to me, it would put me to at least 300rwhp and perfect drivability. I plan on building a turboed 383 in the future, but the hotcam with 1.7 roller rockers, and all the bolt ons will keep me more than satisfyed. I'm with you I want proven results, I just ask questions when it concerns ltx motors because the whole fuel injection thing is new to me, I'm used to carbs and points.

As covered MUCH earlier in this thread ported LT4s even for those who believe in them end up too big for a 350-355 held to the stock pcm's rpm limitations.

There really is not a case where I would use them, the LT1 head can go 9s in a perfectly setup drag car NA and beyond that I would go to an aftermarket casting. By then you are going to need longer valves to get enough spring in them anyway so the one good thing about the LT4s would no longer matter. Sort of like a factory 4-bolt main, by the time it is necessary you should have aftermarket caps anyway.

Its not so much hate as it is advice to use whats proven and not unnecessary. I believe in them for extreme strokers (Ed Wrights car, Joe Overtons etc). But other than that I'd say now a days they are used more for show cars or clones. There is a very well done LT4 SS clone on youtube as an example. Or they are used to say you have them. I think if you could find a set of heads with the intake and better springs for 6/700 bucks to do it but other than that go with what works
