Hi guys ive been looking at several cars for about 2 months now. I found this camaro and the guy says that it should be putting about 440 hp to the wheels and should break into the 11s. I was needing some info from you guys cuz i dont want to get burnt. Here are the specs. Also another question. You have to hold the gas to the floor to start it and it burns rich. He said the ecu needs reflashed? What do you guys think?

That rich could be doing harm to the engine too.

440 to the wheels is definitely possible with very well ported stock heads, good cam, a good tune, and a nice motor but I see evidence of NONE of that.

The guy halfassed the build and is telling you he got top notch results.

TCI trans manual valve body? is this a 4L60e, 700R4, TH350, TH400, etc?

unless it's cheap as ****, sounds like a gamble.

No the car was built by top gun performance in tn. I mean if the fuel problem is fixable i want it... bc this car is fast as *****! And the tranny idk what kind it is but its a 3 speed lol all i know

I would have him bring it to a track or dyno to prove actual results. If he won't, I would have serious doubts against buying it.

It's rare for someone to put that much work into a car, and leave it incomplete simply because of a small issue like a tune. If that was the only problem, tuning it would greatly improve his chances of getting a good price. If the tune is hiding other issues, then he's motivated to leave it untuned.

OK you replied while I was typing. A three speed for that mild a build is another huge red flag.

I would stay away.

You say it is fast but what are you comparing it too?

Its compared to the 03 cobra that i was thinking about buying. Stock no pulley or anything

I really don't know anything about the Cobra. I will say though that a stall and hard shifting tranny, gears can make a car feel faster than a stock car that runs a similar number.

Back when I first started modding my car I met a guy with a M6 Z28 with a big cam and 4.10s. I had a baby cam, 2800 stall and I might have had the 3.42s if not it was 2.93. His car felt violently fast to me but when we raced at the track it was the tree and 60ft that decided it, we were fender to fender pretty much the whole way.
Point being don't trust the *** dyno get him to dyno it or take it to the track. If he doesn't have the suspension to launch hard it should still trap say 118+mph if the engine is vaguely decent and see Ramair95TA's signature for actual results from 440rwhp in an f-body.

IMO again this is someone who did a little reading, threw together an average setup never finished the tuning and is telling you he has a well above average result.

Unless he has a reciept for that forged crank and allthe other stuff for the build with very close purchase dates I wouldn't even consider it. If he has them then I would still have some serios concerns about it.

How much does he want for it? 440 at the crank is more like it.

Run!!! Just talk to him and try to get him to come clean about what's wrong with it, that's what I did when I bought my first 99 camaro. Told the guy it was gonna get worked on anyways so if there's something wrong its gonna get fixed anyways. He fessed up about a couple things and dropped price for me

i would look at EVERYTHING in the car. I am willing to bet there are a few things wrong.
