UPDATE
So I've figured out that this car is Bi-Polar.... For the last week it has been incredible. This is how it is supposed to be but I rarely experience it acting right. I haven't done a single thing to it since the original post of this thread. I bought a few things like new plug wires and a new AC Delco coil, but never installed them. It has plenty of power all day, instead of being crappy on the way to work, then great on the drive home or crappy this week, ok the next, etc. It has that great pull like you're being yanked right off the bat.
I've come to the conclusion that there's nothing like gears or a stall that are needed to "wake it up", I just need to figure out why it has been largely inconsistent since I have bought it despite nearly everything being replaced. I'm going to install some of the ignition stuff I got and see how it goes, even thought it's so fun right now I'm almost afraid to touch anything. But I can't shake the feeling that I just have an odd, temperamental car that I can't do anything about.

Hey:
Sounds like it is pulling timing due to knock sensors or your 02s are off, you really need some diagnostics done to eliminate what issues you may have. Excessive knock or way off AFRs can make it seem like nite and day different rides. Another thing is cam timing is off a tooth, but then it would mostly run like dodo MOST OF THE TIME.
How old is your Cat Convs? Good Luck...

Thanks for the replies Cat is about 1-2 years old. I've got an LT4 knock sensor and a mail order tune. I've got a good scanner that tells me timing and knock and all that, I'll have to look into what are normal figures. I'll try the O2s too. Now that you mention it I have gotten a code for the left O2 being lean, but it only lasted 30 seconds and only came back every 2 months or so.

I ordered a set of JBA plug wires a while ago, they had a good price so I grabbed them. I installed them on the driver's side a few hours ago and noticed the #5 wire was quite badly burned by touching the header at some point. I have no idea how this car ran so great at any time with that. I had the idea that I screwed up when I crimped the msd wires that were on there and I out a cheap set on there and never got around to changing them. Obviously in that time (over 1 year) the plug wire got burnt at some point. I still have the msd's on the pass side routed OTVC. I may change those tomorrow, but I think thery're fine for a while.

It runs good, but it's weird that it was running so good with that burnt wire for that small bit of time, hopefully that solves my inconsistent performance....lemme get a picture of the burnt wire, I'll post later.
