Since you guys put little faith in my knowledge lets have SStrokerace educate you a little.

If you get real ambitious plug 610grams into those equations he post in post number 18 those numbers also fail to reflect the further effect of vacuum on the intake stroke which would be a very hard thing to put a number too.

Far as cam specs to make decent daily driver torque and power to 7000rpms, I know enough to trust real professionals, and have experience with enough cams in my car and friend's car to know who can do such things.
I don't doubt your knowledge...sorry if it came off that way. If I did, I wouldn't have asked about the stock PM rods. (Still hope you comment on those.) I can say that what I said about those speedpro (TRW) pistons I know from personal experience. I'm not saying they are the best...but for what they are (economical forged piston) they have been used for decades with great results. Sure a swap to SRP/JE/Ross/Diamond/Wiseco/Mahle/etc. would be lighter, safer, and make more power due to less rotating weight...I do realize that.

The engine builder has a set of blue GM rods; would they be better than my stock rods, I can pick them up at a good price. Lloyd has told me that with those pistons, stock rods, and stock crank I should never break it with the hot cam and le1 heads; as long as it is put together correctly. I am going to have it balanced anyway I go.

Now I'll throw another wrench in there ...for the price of rod bolts and resizing you could buy a new 4340 rod.

Only thing I am worried about is the rods holding up to my hot cam set up; I never plan on spinning past 6200rpms or so. It is just going to be a nice strong DD car, that will not be driven hard or raced too often.

With stock reconditioned rods, you wont have any problems.

Old thread I know, but the L2256 Speed Pro (TRW) forgings mentioned above are available in a lightweight version (with coated skirts) for only about $100 more. The weight I saw listed was very close to the stock piston weights listed earlier in this thread.

You made 323 rwhp/338 rwtq with bolt-ons only? Details please. Not doubting....just want to hear what all you had.
