Default balancer and hub question

I haven't done a search, but I'm hoping someone can help me out. I'm getting a new shortblock and my buddy has my old block with the stock crank hub n balancer. I would prefer to not use them cuz they're old n shitty looking.

I wanna get an ATI balancer and I was wondering if I could use it with the stock crank hub. Also if anyone uses it, will this need a different belt?... http://www.summitracing.com/parts/ATI-917776/

The stock hub will not work with an aftermarket balancer.

If interested, I can get you the correct ATI balancer & hub for your vehicle.
I offer them in steel, aluminum & also underdrive models.

Let me know if I can be of assistance.

can you use a actual balancer for an LT1? i thought you couldnt? or does the engine have to be setup and balanced a certain way to use it?

ATI sells all different kind of dampers including a few for the LT1. You do not need to rebalance a rotating assembly to run the upgraded dampers over the stock balancer.

+1 for Lonnie btw

look at professional products. they have a nice set up that came with an aftermarket hub and balancer for like $150. i got one and it looks great. Even has the timing marks on the balancer and even came with a key since stock cranks are keyed as well as aftermarket cranks.

If your balancer isn't stock size, get out the string and route it with the proper belt routing, and measure its length. Then go to a knowledgable parts guy and get that length of belt. You should be super close. I did that and got the perfect length belt the first try.

On the LT1, the 10%UD balancer requires the following belt:

Dayco #5060625, Goodyear #4060625, Delco #SK625

Approx 2" shorter than stock

You're such an ***.
You're lucky I like you. In a non-Jersey-Shore kind of way.

I got the ATI balancer and hub with the 10% Underdrive in the lightweight aluminum version. Lonnie was absolutely great to deal with and shipped everything real quick and answered all my questions. I will take pictures later of the piece. IT LOOKS BADASS!!
