I would too dude, I would buy a set of lpps happily and forget it, but on the same hand I'm not going to wait around for them to start making headers again when I start tearing into my car in the next coupple of months, I want to drive my car when the weather gets nice, not wait for a set of headers.

LOL, back then if you had a car that needed long tubes on it that was a bad son of a gun. That was kind of race car-ish back then. Most modified LT1s were running shorties and a couple of the heavy hitter street cars had those Arizona Speed and Marines. Now just about every modded LT1s have long tubes on them of some sort.

Wow you're taking me back in time here man I remember back when I first bought my car in 1999, the hotcam kit was pretty new and the hot set-up (I had it), shorty headers were the norm and longtubes were for really bad-*** LT1s. Mid 13s was normal for bolt-on cars, mid 12s was normal for heads/cam cars, and if you ran 11s or faster you were king. Most of the fast LT1 cars were 6-speeds, cause no one with auto LT1s had anything bigger than a 2800 stall, anything bigger was for "race cars" Man those were the days, how times have changed

oh boy brings me back as well, not as far as 99 but I came in towards the end of those times. I remember looking up to guys with LT4 h/c/i, bbk shorties, and 2600 stalls thinking how bad *** they were

Get eBay speed daddy's and be dine with it. Couldn't be happier with my cost/per benefit for those headers.

Yep. I did the HOT cam in 98 and struggled because nobody did tuning for OBDII. I was a Hypertech beta tester and still didn't get it to work.

I remember when Grotohan(sp?) came out with headers and that was the greatest thing since sliced bread. Very expensive. Then Hooker came out and seemed like everybody wanted to run them. I stayed somewhat emissions legal and went with SLP dual cat shorties. For 1.75" they fit very nicely and don't look like the AS&M mess.

The old days...

True, not many people know how to build them well today, and even fewer knew 10-15 years ago.

I ran around on a stock tune for quite a long time with the hotcam kit and bolt-ons because of lack of tuning options for obd2 cars back then

And don't for get about those FLP longtubes...those were very popular for a short time....

Looks like the 3rd pic tells the story on why you have to loosen/move the steering outboard on the Ebay headers so frequently. If they could get the #1 primary a little closer to the flange, it might be a perfect fit on both sides...

If I get another 4th gen (need a Camaro!) I'll try some of these. Jet Hot's NC facility is only about 40 minutes away, so whoever voiced the idea of having them JH coated, it's a good one.
