Default Car issues : Need help!

Have a huge problem,

I own a 1993 camaro z28 with lt1 engine. Recently i installed .270 cam, replaced hydrolic lifters, crane gold rockers 1.6 and long tube headers. Ever since i did this and the purchase of a tunned chip from pcm4less.com, my car began to give me a problem. Car idles great. But, thing is at every stop it turns off completely. My mechanic told me he discovered i had been running the car with an incorrect installed chip and that the cause might be a burned out ECM. Reason, states its not scanning any troubleshooting codes and concerned to know why Check Engine light on. We have already exausted all our resources. Before I purchase a new ECM, Stock Prom and reburn chip....We cry out for help! We ask for options or recommendations...thanx!

Does it bog down and kill because of low rpm's or does it just kill abruptly, like some turned off the ignition?

Any more specs on the cam?

Someone had the exact same problem just the other day- https://ls1tech.com/forums/lt1-lt4-m...le-issues.html

It was you! LOL. Did you try what ramair95ta said?

Did you try to reinstall the PROM properly?

Almost sounds like a poorly-written Nigerian scam ad on Craigslist.

So it has a .270 cam eh? Gotta love that half-stock lift.

So the SES light is on, but it's not giving you any codes? If you jump the 2 OBD terminals, the SES light should flash. I think if it flashes 12, then everything is normal, but it will give you a code of some sort (I think).

With that cam, I think your car would run fine on the stock tune/ecm. Obviously, you can get more out of it, but it should run normal enough to drive it. Since all this started with the PCMforless PROM, then I say go back to stock PROM/chip and see what happens. I personally don't know much about PROMs and chips tuning since my pcm is a 95.

Keep us updated.

mguidry629: That is similar to what i was recommended on doing. if it flashes 12 does that mean that its not a ECM issue? if so, what might be the problem?

In order to fix your problem you have to at least take your engine back to a last know good state.
Use the Chip prior to the upgraded Chip.
Was beating my head on an issue such as this with a 1991 Camaro Z28 and it turned out to be Injectors (Rich condition) and the PCM (unable to read).

Replaced the PCM, then tuned for my setup.

Get a PCM in there that can be read first. Then troubleshooting of this problem can continue from there.

Here is a guide to your symptoms:

If you just added long tubes you may need heated o2's.
