Default $51 for lifters..... each?????wtf

ok so ive been reading alot about what lifters to get and im set on the LS7's and have also seen a couple posts that the dealership is usually the cheapest place to get them. so i go down to our local chevy dealer and walk into the parts department and i say to the guy " i need a price on some parts" he says "ok what do you need" i reply " i need some lifters from an LS7" he has the most puzzled look on his face and says" you need what? i say " uhh some lifters" he says " ok what car are they out of" i reply , "a C6 Z06 corvette" he says " ummm ok, so lifters from a 96 corvette" i say " how about you just look up lifters for a 97' camaro with the LT1" he looks up the part and says $51.xx a piece, i **** my pants, shook my head and left.

Never ever go to a parts store for parts for our cars, or any car if you can help it. They charge 180+ for injectors (per injector), 200+ for a stock exhaust manifold (for my van), 700+ for a set of shocks/struts (bilstein), etc.

The only thing they are good for is maintenance parts, oil, and cleaning supplies lol

Yes, lifters are just about the only thing interchangeable between LT's and LS's.

just to add.. the reason they cost so much from gm is because theres a part number for a set of 16 and a part number for a single replacement. He must have found the number for a single replacement and multiplied by 16. the set of 16 from what I hear is alot cheaper.
My quote from GM reads: 16 | pn 17122490 | list 73.49 | net 54.79 | total $940.64 CAD

the correct part number for a set of 16 is 12499225. Not sure what GM charges but I would guess it would compete with summit/jegs or maybe even beat them. anyone have a proper quote?

well i think if i needed a bug deflecter or mudflaps for a cevy truck he probably could have helped me out but beyond that he made me feel stupid because i actually knew what i was talking about.

You can get the set of 16 through the dealer. My dumb *** let one roll off of the bench and it chipped the surface. Needless to say I bought a $50 lifter and converted the chipped one to solid. Lame.
