Default front wheel bearings

Don't really know a lot about it but can these wheel bearings be repacked or is it sealed. My wheels don't spin all that great and makes a roaring noise. If it is sealed can it possibly be drilled n put a fitting in it?

The bearings are sealed. If it is making noise or has play in it, it is worn out and should be replaced. Even if you were to put a grease fitting in a new one, you could potentially push the seals out of it. Just get a new one.

Also check you brakes to make sure their not dragging or something, brakes can make that sound also. When you have the car jacked up, see if you can get any up down side to side movement, that's a red flag for a wheel bearing going bad.

heres what you need
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2-FRO...Q5fAccessories
loosen the studs that attach the hub to the steering spindle and hit the heads of the studs with a hammer and the old hub will pop out .
remove clean and wd40 the opening insert new hub and tighten down to spec (making a mental note of how the old hub sits in reference to the ABS plug socket and reassemble in the same direction)

Very very easy to replace as it's 4 bolts to hold it on the spindle. Be careful with all the abs and brake line clips as they get brittle with age and if you break one make sure to use some zip ties to keep the lines where they are supposed to be. Only part that sucks is the assemblies (bearing) are expensive about $100 a piece at your local AP IIRC.

it's not a hard job to do as long as you have the proper tools. most shops charge about 1 Hour labor to do it.

If you think that's expensive go buy one for a late model 4x4 3/4 ton diesel truck.

Oh I know, but it's not like the old days when you could pull the bearing and replace it separately or repack it with grease for a few dollars.

I agree...wheel bearing hubs aren't something you want to cut corners on, as it can come back to bite you. I'd look into SKF hubs, as they've made quality stuff for many years. They're not cheap, but if you do a Google search, using the part number "BR930186", and find the "family owned business" in New Jersey, their prices are about the best for SKF hubs. Their site looks a little hokey, but they ARE legit...I recently bought a pair of hubs for my Canyon 4x4 from them, and their prices were the lowest, with prompt shipping.

I obviously can't directly mention their name, because they're not a site sponsor.

Autozone has them for around 108 a piece and they come with a warranty. I just put two new ones in and they are fine.

The timkens are $115 on rock auto, and $182 at autozone not $475.
