lt1 in 86 Iroc
I was thinking of putting an LT1 in my 86 Iroc-Z, but before I do that, does anyone know anything about the lb9 motor? my buddy gave me a 305 and he said its an lb9 and used to beat 350 tpi camaros when he had it in their. how can I check if it really is an lb9?

I have a 305 Im building in my garage right now for my 91 RS. (v6 car) Even though I have a spare lt1 short block and a gen 1 SBC 350 in my garage as well. Like anything else, it can go fast with the right picking of parts. But truth is, its cheaper and easier to go with a 350 sbc gen 1, but for a FI setup, a lt1 would be nice swap

Those 305's with a guy that can work the heads on them will fly. I know thats not something you here everyday but with the right piston cam and head work on those... they are the best kept secret in cheap good HP engines. You ask some of the local short track guys that have to run 305's in the class they run in and they will tell you what can be done with them.
