im not anywhere near advanced enough to check geometry n stuff to find the exact pushrod length. for what i've done do i need stock length, longer or shorter? stock block, heads milled .010, crane springs, impala head gaskets, and comp extreme 230/236 .544/.555 with 1.6 rr

You will absolutely need different pushrods and you absolutely need to check.

If you cant find someone who can.

Lloyd told me I would be safe to go with 7.1" on my le1 headed 355 with impala gaskets, but the correct way is to measure the true length. I only have the lt4 hot cam though.

Its best to have a test spring. take one of your valve springs to the hardware store and get a soft spring that will fit in its place.

No he will not.

Using a solid lifter is one way to do it, but not necessary.

Yep you could just prime the stock lifters, or even mod a stock lifter so it is solid. The adjustable push rod is cheap, just buy one and you will be able to figure it out with the info on this site and others.

Yes. But to some people, and depending on the valve spring, it's a pita just to remove them. Especially if the motor is in the engine bay.

if you are going to mod your motor...best you learn wtf is needed to do so or have someone who does do the work.

a "guess" would be 7.100" to 7.150"...but that is just a guess.

pull any RR on a cyl. mark the valve tip with a sharpie, put RR back on and turn motor by hand 2 times, remove RR. if witness mark is dead nuts center your pr are fine. if it is closer to exhaust than intake than you need a shorter one,\.

typically you need a shorter PR with the mods you have

****** fails to mention that if your lifter collapses instead of you valve spring compressing then your witness mark will not be 100% accurate.
