I took the steering knuckle off and ground a bit off. I also got my header(pre installed) real hot and took a ball pean hammer to it. Mine is very close, but should be good.

Start with the steering knuckle but make sure you lock the steering wheel first.

...try again.

He said take off the steering knuckle and grind a bit down, then ding the header with a hammer after heating.

I just installed a set on a friends, We had to do some grinding on the steering shaft, and heat the header and ding it in pretty damn good to get the clearance we felt comfortable with.

There is an easier fix. Under the dash ther are three bolts the hold the column to the firewall( they are in triangle pattern)dont remove just take out about half way. Take a wedge( like a pry bar or something) to make space and put between steering shaft and header. This will move the shaft over about a quarter of an inch. Leave wedge in and tighten three bolts underdash back up. Remove wedge and there will be room for shaft to clear. Done this on 5 cars now and works everytime.

i would never mess with the steering. its not worth risking your steering for a header. i would also not hit it with a hammer because it looks like ****. what i did was take the steering shaft off. left it on to mark on the header where it hits. took the arm off and the header off. then i used a press with a big socket and it looks clean like it was made that way.
