Default LT1 aftermarket rotating assemblies

I was wondering if any of you guys are running aftermarket rotating assemblies and if there more reliable than stock LT1's for street use? i was thinking of using callies sledghamer crank, callies rods, and mahle pistons for daily driver and for track use!

General consensus seems to be don't go cast. Go forged. I haven't heard any bad things from callies either. Just do your homework. I'm sure you can find something on here about callies.

are you going 383 or 355, if staying 355 the stock crank is plenty strong for most builds

My all forged rotating assembly is from Competition Products with a Howards Tracksmart 4340 crank, Howards 6" 4340 rods and Mahle ft pistons with coated Clevite rod, main and cam bearings. This setup is rated to 1000hp so I'd say it's way stronger than stock stuff.

My old Formula 383 used a Lunati crank, Oliver billet steel 5.85" rods and JE pistons...over 15 years, 54,000 plus miles and countless 1/4 mile passes...The combo is an anvil of durability and continues to work for the new owner...even though the trans took a **** at the track yesterday

Without getting too far into it, it basically drops the piston speed per RPM. So, if that was holding you back from revving higher, you can now increase the max RPM.

I would say a rotating assemblies failure has more to do with inadequate prep than anything else. If you simply buy a crank out of the box from Eagle or Scat and slap it into your motor, you are asking for trouble. If you buy a rotating assembly from a shop that takes the time to check the crank, rods, pistons, and balances everything I can't see a problem with that.

it raises the chances of higher RPM's thats why believe it or not most chevy V8's are bigger than ferrari V8's in terms of cubic inches

damn how much did it cost you a total of the crank, rods, and pistons including the balancing?
