1997 A4 tranny in a 1994 car
Tried a search, too many results for the vague words...buddy wants a used tranny in his '94 TA. Found one on craigslist for $500 but its out of a '97. Would this be a direct swap or will there be issues due to the OBD1/OBD2 differences/wiring harness?

You can use it just have to add one wire into the large trans plug to the pcm blue connector pin #6 for the PWM TCC lock up. Then flash it with a 95 file. http://shbox.com/1/harness_connector_faces.htm click the 4L60E tab at the bottom

I had this same problem but my issue was the current 4l60e in my 96 was a 94...so what you can do is transfer the non-pwm pump and 94 valve body from the 94 and install it on the 97 4l60e case...JUST BE CAREFUL OF ALL THE STAINLESS CHECK ***** SO GET A BOOK TO MAKE SURE THERE ALL INSTALLED IN PROPER LOCATIONS....DON'T FORGET TO USE THE 94 SEPARATOR PLATE ALSO.......

Well, here's kind of a twist. I called on the transmission today, and apparently it's attached to an LT1 longblock, complete with accessories, wiring harness, and ecu(OBD2)...all for $500 and was pulled at 115k miles(all out of a '97 formula).
My buddys car is pretty damn ragged out as far as the drivetrain goes. If we used the OBD2 computer and '97 tranny, would this make things easier and more "plug and play"?
It's a hell of a deal for $500!

its probably easier to run your current harness and ecu, a buddy of mine installed a 97 motor in his car with the 97 harness and had a ton of issues, he ended up reinstalling his 94 ecu and harness, there are a few more sensors on the 97 motor but they are unneeded if you use a obd1 harness.
I have a 96/97 motor i will be installing after i finish rebuilding it, I will be using my 94 ecu
