Default Opti Help please

Here soon I will be doing a complete tune up and fixing my oil leak in the front of the motor. But I am confused on which optispark to go with.

Here is my dilemma I dont have alot to spend on the opti so here are my options.

MSD from autozone for - $150
CMS for $100 will probably want the top shelf with lifetime warranty.

I have tried to do alot of research but there is alot of mixed information so I would like a more direct answer on which is the better one to get. Also any suggestions on tune up parts would be great to (plug wires, plugs, oil i should use and so on).

My car is stock except for exhaust and ram air addon, its a 95 LT1 with 134k miles.

Thanks,

-Buddy-

The price for that msd is for the cap and motor only. I would suggest changing the whole distributor while your in there. A msd distributor is like 500 bucks.

The MSD from autozone is probably just the cap and rotor, not the opti. MSD opti's are in the $500-600 range.

There's alot of people that don't like what CMS said on the other forum. But I personally bought his top shelf opti and its been working great so far. I rev mine to 6.6k rpm and have put about 4k miles on it without a problem. Alot of people told me to put a AC Delco opti on, but I didn't want to spend $350+ so I bought the CMS unit. No regrets so far.

I guess everyone has their preference on stuff..with my LT1 I used AC Delco Plugs, Wires, Oil Filter, and Castrol Oil. I use the same with my 408 LS Engine.

AC Delco, hands down the most consistent performer of any optispark.

Stock plug wires. No real benefit with going with anything larger, other than a thicker jacket.

NGK TR55s are very popular for stock cars, along with Autolite 104s.
