Default dodge challenger not impressed

So i was headed home tonite when i get to the light in the turning lane in front of me was a new dodge challenger srt8. So we both turn and i get up next to him and we go i know i made a mistake running a hemi from a 40 roll but hey who cares. So i yanked about a car ahead of him and held there until around 80 and the hemi kicks in. HE passes me and pulles about a car on me for a few secs then we both let off. Needless to say im not impressed bye them at all. Would have been nice to have won but give a few months and i will blowing the doors off of them. I would have liked to see what would have happen from a dig but hey theres always next time.

What is your car and what are your mods? Sounds like a good close race. Eric L

My aunt owns one I have driven it a few times and it is slow from the start until around 3rd gear, but even then it is not much at all. I cant wait to take her to the track after my 355 le1 headed 3200 stall car is done; I am going to put bus lengths on it.

They make good power but the car is heavy as hell and that is the difference. they weigh almost 800lbs more? something like that.

Yep if feels like a tank compared to my ta; it takes a lot of hp to get that thing to go fast. It handles well for as bid as it is.

The engine is nice but the car is a big fat pig.

You sure that was an SRT8 and not just the regular Hemi Challenger? I have seen both at the local track. The Hemi was running around 14.3 and the SRT8 was low 13's. I don't know what was done to the SRT8 but the Hemi was completely stock and an older couple in their late 50's taking turns driving it down the strip.

The problem with those cars is all the safety, emissions, and luxury stuff that is required these days. Mopar knows how to make them go fast....

Dont get me wrong next to the LT1 and LS1 it is a big and up comming engine that is starting to have a huge following and after market parts supply. My father in law has a charger hemi and I see some of the forums out there and people are making good power with them in working heads and cams and even strokes now. They can and will run and as soon as those cars hit the 15 to 10k mark you will see alot more of them at the strip in all different forms.
