Default car "surges" at WOT

i recently dropped the k-member and motor/trans out my car to change the head gasket. after reinstalling the k-member and engine/trans i got everything back in its place and now the car kinda jumps at WOT around 3500 RPM. i checked all my vacuum lines, wiring plugs, etc. any ideas? i just bought the car but from the one time i drove it before i dropped the motor i dont remember it surging like this.

any advice?
what to look for?
need more info let me know what u need!!

also idk if i have a SES light on the guy i bought it from pulled the bulb or it went out. (im sure it has one on though, gonna try to get a scan tool this weekend just wanted some input)

thx in advance!!!

man mine does the same thing! ever since a header install. Only at like 5500+ i don't think its a misfire right? Surging is the best way to describe it. I will post a video on it soon to see if yours is the same thing. It did it with old Opti as well. On my car, i fired the ignition wire leading from icm to coil then i just wraped them together and taped it. i am going to sauder them once i get my car back for the transmission shop this weekend. Did you ever have any ignition problems like that?

Normally, surging is caused by a lean condition. I'd tape a fuel pressure guage to the windshield and go mat it a few times. If the pressure drops off under load, you need either a pump or a filter.
