Default help with a 95 z28?

Hey guys, i've got a 1995 z28 with a lt1 and a six speed. it's a pretty fast car as you might already know but i'm not satisfied with it quite yet. now keep in mind im only 16 so i'm on a pretty tight budget. so these are my questions, and thanks for the help in advance.

1. i want to put a bigger cam in the car, i have a mechanic that helps me with this stuff but i wanted to see ya'lls opinion. i think i'm going with the cc306 (.510/.540 i think) and i figured i would probably need to get my heads p/p and maybe put a aftermarket chip in it? anything else?

2. what good is a cam without an exhaust? i decided i want to put aftermarket exhaust. i've heard of people bolting their mufflers straight to their headers, is that possible? if not, i was thinking headers straight back to mufflers in the back, any recommendations? i want a clear sound so i can hear that cam very easily.

3. well i decided that i couldnt have a muscle car without rims. i want the weld prostar 15x10's on the back and the 15x4s on the front, the only problem is i looked at my rear wheel wells and i'm not sure that i can fit those on there... but then again idk when it comes to backspacing and offset and all, i guess what i'm asking is can i put that rim on there without it rubbing the inside or sticking outside the wheel well?

4. last thing, when i go very slow (in first gear) and i push my clutch in it runs a high rpm (2000 or so) and stays there for a minute or until i let off the clutch. i made sure it wasnt my foot, any ideas??

Any help greatly appreciated!

well the 95 doesnt have a chip, you can get a mail order tune or take it and get a dyno tune. You can look here to find a cam thats works for you

Read here first https://ls1tech.com/forums/lt1-lt4-m...ewbie-faq.html

Start slow and do all the bolt-ons. Don't go throw a cam in with everything else stock

hey, i read up on that guide, thats actually where i found that cc306 cam. so are you saying that since it doesnt have a chip in it, i really would only need to get the heads p/p maybe?

For any cam you have to get the computer tuned period. But for that cam you will need all the other bolt-ons too

First things first man, quite jumping to wanting a cam. Sure it sounds cool, but without all the boltons and supporting mods its going to be a flop. Any kind of internal engine work or head work is going to require a tune. Hell I did a tune on my bolt on car and it was well worth it. Please listen to these guys and study up on the bolt ons first.
Oh, and a 383 isn't going to be anywhere near any kind of low budget, if you want it done correctly and to make good power while still streetable.

It depends on the size of the cam. Start with CAI, headers and exhaust. For 400hp look at LE or Ai to get a head/cam package. Since you're 6-speed look for a good clutch and hope you don't hook good so you're rear end doesn't break. For a good daily driver go with bolt-ons and a set of 4.10s and you'll think its a different car

start with headers/exhaust and intake then if you want more get a cam, the bolt ons will only help in the long run

Yeah for bolt-on get a good cold air intake. Then get a set of longtubes and figure out what kind of exhaust you want the easiest would be to get a off-road y-pipe and a good flowing catback like hooker or loudmouth depending on how loud you can deal with.
