Default Ideas???

Well the Lt1 blow up on me, and im in the process of getting a another lt1 to go in my car. With the old block i was going to rebuild it, i know i want to get a 383 stroker kit and and i want to spray it. im stuck on the heads/cam/intake, etc part, i want to be around the 400+ hp to the wheels before juice. all in all i want t be 500 hp+ to wheels after spray, im thinking maybe 100 to 150 shot. so if you can help me out with infor. i would appreciate it. my car is a m6 and has the stock 10 bolt in it. this is going to be a long process of building the engine so i can have time to save for parts and blah blah blah, but trying to stay in the 5k range. is that reasonable or am i dreaming. ideas ????

Dreaming if you are going 383 for 5k, For 400 hp I would just do a 355. Keep the cost down

383 LT1 bottom ends can be bought from Golen or Clayton for under 5 grand, as long as you have a cam, valvetrain and head setup to put on it

Dreaming? how so.... a forged 3.75" stroke crank is about $600. everything else cost not much more than the 355/350 counter part.

To OP:
For heads you need a lot more cfm than the stock LT1 heads are ready to deliver.

oh and being a T56 get a rear end that can handle the power. This would be the first thing that needs to happen. You can have a 600hp motor but if the diff goes you are going nowhere. lol

seriously if you are only looking for 500 on spray you can do that with a mild built 355. plus save a bundle of cash for use in other mods. like traction/suspension parts.

350 or 355 he can use his stock crank so I guess there is $600 saved right off the top. NO it wont be a HUGE difference but a difference. He is only shooting for 400 hp so a forged 355 with some LE or AI heads cam and Intake will get him were he wants to be plus some . $5k isn't alot when doing a build. Its all the supporting mods that get you
