I have "only" comp cams 1.6 RR's. My stock heads have been thoroughly ported and polished, but the MAC mid-length headers are choking them (at least that's the theory). Even if I pick up 20 RWHP ( a stretch?) by switching to long tubes, I still won't hit 400.
I don't have flow numbers for the heads. Had a guy with a good reputation do a hand port and polish on them in his own garage, so it wasn't a fancy-schmancy shop with a flow bench etc.

I seriously doubt you're going to pick much if any peak HP and TQ by switching to long tubes. Under the curve you'll probably stand to pick up a bit, but top end, probably not.
It's possibly with that cam, but EVERYTHING has to be well matched.

UPDATE: Ok, this really blows. My car was running great for about a day. I've figured out why it is running like complete a$$ . . . 8 of the 16 COMP-R lifters have collapsed and are not recovering. I initially thought we might have installed them wrong. But the car ran perfect for a day! How the hell can that be? More-over, when we installed them, the rockers were adjusted exactly to the specifications given by COMP's tech-line. The guy at COMP said the lifters were probably defective from the get-go. I'm thoroughly disgusted. These were supposed to be the best hydrolic lifters money could by, and in less than 50 miles, they're shot. How they hell do you get a box full of parts that are HALF bad!!?? What kind of quality control are they running - or is there any? COMP says if I send them my lifters back they "might" give me some new ones, provided they decide the lifters are in fact defective.
Let's assume for a second that I was the one who screwed something up: I adjusted the pre-load on each lifter to COMP's specs, I have the right length push-rods, is there something else I could have missed?
