Post Anyone pinned their crank or made stock accept key

wondering if it's been done, if I can save 100$ by drilling a hole and punching in a roll pin I'm all about it. Or if I can somehow machine the stock hub to accept a key, just looking to save some money, who knows how the economy will be in the next few months-years

What is your HP/TQ numbers you are shooting for. The stock hub can be machined to accept a key. The stock crank already has a keyway so it is pretty easy. I just dont think it is necessary. If you are making power to where this needs done, you probably should not be using the stock crank. If it is slightly loose and you don't have the cash for a new crank then maybe this and a ARP bolt might help you out. I dunno, talk to your builder and ask them what they recommend.

I almost forgot that Thunder Racing sells a billet keyed crankshaft hub for $85.00. That would probably be the better way to go if you really think it is needed. I guess for $85.00 a little extra insurance would'nt be a bad thing.

Woops I should have read your sig. I would go with the billet one from Thunder. You probably should have a key in there.

the crank is already keyed... i dunno why you would want to do anything other than buy a keyed hub, or have the stock one keyed?

I drilled my hub to take a regular sized SBC key ...... back in 1997 so I suppose it can be done

Now I just buy one
