Trying to start for the first time, need help!!
Ok, my car was purchased with the motor and trans out. Been working on putting it back together for the past 2 months. Motor is finished now and everything is in and hooked up, trying to get it running now. I pulled the injector fuses and coil wire to prime the oil system, and I noticed that when I turned the key on the fuel pump does not run for the 2 or 3 seconds it's supposed to. Jump to prime wire and it runs. Checked for continuity on the green/white wire from the pcm to the fuel pump relay and I have it. Pink wire at FPR has power when key on, ground is good at FPR. What is the problem? Any ideas?

Fuel pump
The fuel pump runs when I jumper the prime wire to power, so how could the fuel pump be bad? Seems to me that the pcm isn't sending the 12v signal to the relay to turn the pump on. But the pump does run with the prime wire, and if I pull the relay and jump the pink to grey at the relay.

Security light is not on. I unplugged the VATS connector and the security light did come on, then plugged it back in and the light went off.
I have not tried a different relay, but if I'm not getting 12v from the pcm to trigger the relay, a different relay is not going to help.

thats what made me think that it ran other than that relay,
I would try a different key if you have one and check the ecu programming to see if the vats system has been disabled in the ecu (one step of the process) as i think the ecu controls the fuel pump part of the vats, and the bcm (resistor part of the vats process) controls the starter, I might have those backwards

Little more information about my car. It was an automatic, the PO started the conversion from an automatic to a T56. All he really did was cut the hole in the floor. But he had all the necessary components from 94 Firebird. I finished the swap, converted the necessary parts of the wiring over to the manual. Now I know someone is going to mention a wiring problem, but I put my meter on continuity and tested the green/white wire from the FPR connector all the way to the PCM and it's good. Where I was going with the history here is that I think the PCM is from the 94 Firebird, would it be trying to read the resistor value from the VATS key?

if the ecu is from a 94 it will be looking for the 94's key, so that is probably your issue.
there are a few vendors for aldlcables and that is probably the best option. tunercats is free and allows you to disable the vats system as well as change it from a4 to m6.
I recommend this company, they took care of me when my cable went bad that i bought off of a user here (2nd hand). it went bad and i called em and they said send it in and if its bad they would replace it free and reimburse shipping. within two weeks i had a new cable

that should be the cable you need
and tunercats

Ok, thanks for the info. I am going to get a cable as soon as I can. I have spent soo much money on this car in the past 2 months my wife is about ready to kill me. I might have to wait a week or two before I order one. If anyone has one they would like to sell let me know.
