Default 30psi idle on 93 firebird lt1? Please Help

i did a fuel pressure test today and it showed up 30 psi. I put in a new fuel filter and it didnt help at all. I know it should be at 43.5psi at idle. Ive also been have trobles with 3rd gear. it goes through 1st and 2nd fine (but shifts around 2500 rpm's) and then goes to 3rd and acts like it jumps to 4th way to early. My brother said it could be the 3rd and 4th gear belt but were not for sure. any ideas would be great, thanks

as far as the fuel pressure, sounds like the pump is on its way out.

Try unpluging the fuel pressure regulator, it could be going bad.

Yeah, make sure you check fuel pressure with the vacuum line off. Also, have you checked your throttle valve cable? It could also be your governor.

if the fuel pressure is down, your torque will also be down, and the ECU will think you want it to shift that way

Check the fuel pressure with the vacuum line off of the regulator. Mine is 43ish with it off, ~35 at idle with 18" of vacuum. If your fuel pressure cannot hold higher or steady as you get on the gas, then the FP may be an issue.

The trans could be unrelated and have its own problems. Have you checked for leaks, condition and level of the fluid?
