Default cleaning oil off T56

finally got my TPI engine pulled, i had put a T56 from an LT1 behind it..

pulled both together last night in prep for the LT1 engine to go in, looks like my TPI engine had nice oil leak and my T56 is caked with 1/8" of oily dirt.

been using an engine degreaser by "Gunk".. its ok.. but is there anything else you guys use thats better?

i also have oil all inside the bellhousing, which i took off and will just pressure wash that... but i didnt want to take the pressure washer to the T56 in fear of getting water inside it. luckily no oil was on the clutch or plate or bearing, just the fork.

diesel works well also, and you can go to your local gas station and get a whole gallon for 4.50 lol (or whatever the local diesel price is)

I always just took them to a car wash, pressure sprayed it then changed out the fluid to make sure. Never had a problem and very clean

A parts brush and some powdered laundry detergent made into a paste is what I have used in the past to clean really filthy parts. It may take several applications, depending on how dirty. Using the detergent leaves very little to have to clean up. I use Simple Green a lot, too. You have more to clean up when you use petroleum solvents.
