so i need to tackle this job myself, because the shop wants 600+ to do it.
i dont really want to do it the way the book says. i dont want to remove alot of components or raise my engine. is there a way to get it done without doing so?
any input would be awesome

I just did mine last winter. I used an engine lift bracket. The bracket I used rested on the strut towers and had a threaded hook in that slid along the bar that went across to the strut towers. I used a heavy duty ratcheting strap hooked to the motor. Had to fab a bracket for the left rear of the intake to hook it to. I did not have to loosen my K-member. dropped all the bolts and and turned the engine by hand and the pan pretty much fell out. I did have my tranny out at the time so that may have helped with how high I could get the motor. Oh.. dont forget the oil level sensor in the side of the pan. I used a new one piece felpro gasket.
